What are orthotics?

Orthotics (orthoses) are custom made or prefabricated innersoles that are designed, made and fitted by a Podiatrist.

Orthotics sit underneath the foot within the shoe where it properly supports the foot, offloads injured or overloaded structures and corrects any problems with alignment that are contributing to foot, leg, knee, hip and back pain.

Wagga Podiatry Plus' Podiatrists use orthotics to treat a wide range of problems related to poor biomechanics such as

  • Plantar Fasciitis

  • Mortons Nueromas

  • Forefoot pain

  • Heel pain

  • Knee and lower back pain

  • Rhuematoid Arthritis

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Tibialis Posterior Tendonitis

  • Shin Splints

Not everyone needs orthotics and it is important to perform an assessment to determine your suitability for them. If the assessment reveals that they are required, they will generally be prescribed and used with a strength and rehabilitation plan that is individually made by your Podiatrist to address your specific goals.

Our Podiatrists have extensive experience and are expertly trained in identifying when orthotics are necessary, how they should be designed and of what materials they should be made of. In fact, they are so experienced that both Jordan and Bill have taught orthotic design at the university level to student Podiatrists learning the skill.

Wagga Podiatry Plus uses state of the art, precision 3D foot scanning to produce the most accurate and effective orthotic that made from premium, long lasting materials to maximise efficiency and comfort. We know many people who have had rigid, thick and uncomfortable orthotics in the past and we pride ourselves on our ability to make low profile, slim and comfortable orthotics that can fit seamlessly into dress shoes, casual shoes and sports shoes.
