The feet are the foundation of our bodies and poor foot posture, bad alignment and abnormal gait patterns can cause problems as they grow. Our Podiatrists understand the importance of keeping our kids healthy and active. We have undergone extensive training to ensure we achieve this by accurately assessing's your kids and formulating plans to manage any issues that may require treatment.
Common foot problems that we are experienced at treating include...
- In-toeing (pigeon toe)
- Out-toeing (cowboy/Charlie Chaplain walk)
- Overlapping toes Tripping or limping
- Ingrowing toenails
-Heel pain
-Knee pain or Hip pain
-Growing pains
-Severs Disease
- Oshgood Shlatters disease.
Whilst some children may complain of pain, it is often parents/guardians that notice abnormalaties. It is important to be aware of any limping, pain, abornmal arch shapes (high or low) in your children. If you do notice any of these it is advised they are assessed by a Podiatrist.
Footwear
We understand how confusing it can be when picking shoes for kids. A childs foot is vastly different from an adults and changes signicantly throughout their early years. Children are at risk of developing problems if shoes do not fit properly, are too tight/loose or are too rigid/hard. We recommend having children's feet and their footwear assessed every year to ensure they are in the right shoe for their feet and stage of development.
