Foot and Leg Pain Treatment/Sports Injury

It's not until you have sore feet or an injured leg that you realise how important healthy feet and legs are.

These injuries can range from niggles and sensitivities to debilitating pain and disabling changes. They can stop you from enjoying the things you love or impact your performance on the track or field.

Our Podiatrists are experienced, thorough and solely focused on getting you back on your feet.

How do we do this?

To understand how to treat any injury it is imperative that we take the time to understand your activity and injury history. To ensure this, we begin by:

Listening to your story...

  • Ascertaining the particular symptoms or injuries you have or the condition(s)

  • Looking in depth at your previous injuries

  • Consider all medical conditions, lifestyle factors, occupational hazards and physical activities.

  • Review any scans such as x-rays, ultrasounds or MRIs.

From here we undertake a range of "functional assessments" to evaluate the function and movement of specific joints, muscles and tendons.

This means getting you hopping, squatting, lunging and balancing whilst assessing individual muscle groups strength, control and power.

After this, we assess your foot posture and watch you walk so that we can analyse your gait. Taking into account how your feet move, roll and propel off the ground as well as how your ankles, knees and hips move as the feet come into contact with the ground.

Our methodical assessment process ultimately allows us to attain a thorough understanding of the way your body functions and allows us to identify the source of your pain or limitation to get you back on to your feet ASAP.

With this information, we can come to a provisional diagnosis and discuss with you the prognosis of your injury, the treatment options available and put in place a plan to help you get back on your feet and doing the things you love as quickly as possible.
