Careers at Wagga Podiatry Plus

Build a Career in Modern Podiatry

At Wagga Podiatry Plus we believe great podiatry comes from curious clinicians, supportive teams and the right tools to properly assess and treat patients.

We are always interested in connecting with podiatrists and team members who care about delivering thoughtful, evidence based care. Even if we are not actively advertising a role, we encourage you to introduce yourself. We regularly meet clinicians who are relocating, looking for a change, or simply exploring new opportunities.

Our clinic focuses on sports and walking injuries, lower limb biomechanics, rehabilitation and complex cases but also includes general podiatry and skin and nail care. Many of our patients present with persistent or complex problems, which creates a rewarding clinical environment for podiatrists who enjoy detailed assessment and problem solving.

Develop Your Expertise

Professional development is an important part of working at Wagga Podiatry Plus. We support clinicians who want to expand their scope of practice and develop advanced clinical skills.

Team members have the opportunity to work toward endorsement for scheduled medicines as well as the pathway toward becoming a titled sports podiatrist.

Our clinicians are also trained in the advanced technologies and clinical systems used throughout the clinic. These include Zebris pressure and gait analysis, Pedar in-shoe pressure analysis, diagnostic on point ultrasound, laser therapy and other advanced biomechanical assessment techniques.

Wagga Podiatry Plus also operates its own on-site 3D printed orthotic laboratory. Clinicians have the opportunity to learn both the CAD design and production of custom orthoses, gaining a deeper understanding of orthotic therapy and how device design influences foot and lower limb function. This exposure provides valuable skills that are rarely available within traditional podiatry clinics.

This combination of mentorship, technology and structured clinical systems allows podiatrists to develop confidence in managing both common conditions and more complex lower limb problems.

What a Typical Week Looks Like

No two days at Wagga Podiatry Plus are exactly the same, which is one of the things our clinicians enjoy most about the role.

Across a typical week you will see a broad mix of patients. One appointment might involve assessing complex heel pain or a long standing walking injury, while the next may be performing an ingrown toenail procedure or reviewing a rehabilitation program. Routine podiatry care such as skin and nail treatment also forms an important part of the clinical workload, alongside diabetic foot assessments and high risk care.

Appointments are scheduled with enough time to properly assess problems and explain treatment plans. New patients often involve detailed history taking, physical examination and gait assessment. Follow up appointments commonly focus on rehabilitation progress, footwear advice, orthotic therapy and ongoing management of foot and lower limb conditions.

Throughout the week you will also use the clinic’s assessment technology where appropriate, including pressure and gait analysis, ultrasound and other biomechanical tools. Our on site 3D printed orthotic laboratory allows clinicians to be directly involved in the design of custom orthoses, and you will receive training in both the clinical reasoning and CAD design behind these devices.

Podiatry assistants support the clinical team by helping with room preparation, sterilisation processes, patient flow and aspects of orthotic production. This allows podiatrists to focus their time on assessment, diagnosis and treatment.

The clinic also places a strong emphasis on learning. Regular discussion between clinicians and ongoing exposure to complex cases provides constant opportunities to develop clinical reasoning and expand your skills. Over time clinicians are supported to build confidence across a wide range of podiatric conditions while developing their own areas of interest.

Study Podiatry While Working in a Real Clinic

The Charles Sturt University Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine now allows students to complete much of the course through flexible and remote study. This creates the opportunity for students to live in regional areas while completing their degree and gaining valuable experience in a clinical environment.

At Wagga Podiatry Plus we offer podiatry students the opportunity to work within the clinic as podiatry assistants while studying. This allows students to earn a solid wage while gaining real exposure to day to day podiatry practice.

Working as a podiatry assistant provides valuable insight into how a modern podiatry clinic operates. Students assist the clinical team with patient preparation, room setup, sterilisation processes and aspects of orthotic production, while also observing a wide range of podiatry appointments.

Students are exposed to a broad mix of work including sports and walking injuries, biomechanical assessments, orthotic therapy, ingrown toenail procedures, routine podiatry care and diabetic foot assessments. This experience helps build confidence and clinical understanding well before graduation.

Our clinic also uses advanced technology including gait analysis, pressure analysis, diagnostic ultrasound and an on site 3D printed orthotic laboratory.

Students working in the clinic gain exposure to these systems and develop a deeper understanding of how they support clinical decision making.

For many students this pathway provides an excellent foundation for their career and can lead to future opportunities within the clinic once qualified.
If you are currently studying podiatry, or considering enrolling in the Charles Sturt University program, we would be happy to hear from you.
